What is a Shamanic Journey?

Shamans are individuals who have the ability to be fully grounded in this world while simultaneously being adept at traveling through the spirit world where they then commune with beings in the spirit realm. The beings the Shamans communicate with are considered ancestors, power animals, beings of great wisdom, angels, etc. After asking for and obtaining the information they are seeking, Shamans come back to ordinary reality bringing the help and information they received from the Beings with them. They then use this information to help and heal themselves and others.
We use the term "Ordinary Reality" and "Non-Ordinary Reality" (NOR), to distinguish between the consensual reality that most people are used to, and the Non-Ordinary Reality of the spirit world. The Shaman enters this NOR through portals from ordinary reality into the spirit world. In many cultures, this is facilitated through the aid of steady drumming, which allows the person to relax into a trance state before entering the portal and experiencing the Shamanic Journey.
Largely due to the work of various cultural anthropologists such as Michael Harner, coupled with the interest produced through the writings of Carlos Castaneda and his character, Don Juan, people in the western world have become interested in and have learned to explore Shamanic Journeys as well.

In our Shamanic Journey class, we will teach you about Shamanic Journeys, and in the practical application portion, we will use Steady Drumming to help you enter into the spirit world for your own Shamanic Journey. For this, you will be given clear instructions so you may safely enter into NOR of the spirit world. There, you will have the opportunity to communicate with great beings on the other side, and come back with answers for yourself and others.
